Cloud Team

The Aptana Cloud team is chartered with defining, designing, implementing, and managing the Aptana Cloud offering, including APIs and infrastructure to support multiple cloud server and service providers, management applications and tooling, and integration facilities. Key positions are available on this team. If your skillset and passions fit some significant subset of the following list, please get in touch – we are looking for a few brilliant, versatile, driven individuals as we prepare to launch our 1.0 offering.
 
We are looking for someone who has experience:

  • With virtualization and abstraction of APIs at many levels
  • Deploying to top-notch cloud server providers: Amazon, Google and others
  • Developing rich web applications, utilizing the latest frameworks and technologies for Ruby and Java. Python a plus
  • Setting up and/or building powerful, distributed management, monitoring and reporting tools
  • Solving complex problems relating to distributed computing
  • Working with databases on a large scale
  • Building, assembling and administering OS + software systems of many different sorts

And is excited about:

  • Architecting extremely reliable and scalable web services
  • Working in collaboration with a small team of passionate, experienced developers who are working to change the way web applications are managed and deployed by millions

Areas and systems of interest

  • The software stack of virtual servers (web, DB, app server, etc.)
  • Monitoring and instrumentation (e.g. Nagios, Hyperic and/or roll-your-own scripts)
  • Optimizing performance and resource utilization (incl. kernel hacking)
  • Horizontal scalability, distributed systems, failsafe design
  • RESTful APIs
  • Java, Tomcat, Jetty, Hadoop, Spring
  • Ruby, Rails, Prototype, Scriptaculous
  • MySQL, ORM layers, Replication, distributed file systems

Data Insight team in Nokia Research Center Palo Alto focusing on the challenges and opportunities of such data. The team's approach combines the theoretical foundations of data analysis and computer science to hands-on skills on rapid development of scalable systems with practical relevance.  The research topics include scalable mining of services and manufacturing, adaptivity in mobile terminals, and massively distributed information processing and collective mining in the planetary-scale networks of people and devices.

We are seeking Scalable Data Processing researchers with deep understanding in distributed computing and scalable data management systems in practice and in theory and excellent hand-on skills to realize your ideas and joint goals. You have a strong passion for programming, excellent coding skills and deep knowledge on programming paradigms and languages, such as Python, Erlang, C, Ocaml, and so on. Contributions to Open Source projects, especially in the field of scalable systems, form a big plus.
