Infrastructure Services Developer, Facebook, Palo Alto CA

Facebook is seeking an Infrastructure Services Developer to join the Infrastructure Engineering team. The position is a full-time position based in our main office in downtown Palo Alto.

Responsibilities:

Understand diverse areas such as ads, search, data mining, operations and identify, design and deliver common basic building block infrastructure services that are robust, highly optimized, flexible and highly scalable
Develop strong relationships with various engineering and operations teams, incorporate their feedback and consistently deliver infrastructure services that are widely adopted and used by various teams
Design and develop distributed system software
Contribute to design and development of mechanisms for effective performance analysis, monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis and operation of infrastructure services
Design and develop efficient data collection, storage, organization and retrieval mechanisms
Design and develop systems test to identify boundary conditions and failure scenarios before the infrastructure services are deployed in production

Requirements:

Strong C/C++ design and development skills
Strong distributed system development
Strong database experience - MySQL preferred
Strong analytical, performance, systems, and architecture skills
Experience working on websites with very high transaction volumes
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams
Scripting experience with PHP, Perl or Python preferred

Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer - PAE3IT

Develops, tests, and maintains web-based client and server software to support the Indiana University's TeraGrid Science Gateway activities. Develops web services and web client interfaces for interacting with high-performance scientific applications, scientific data sets, and resource provider information services. Interacts with TeraGrid scientists and other user communities to develop interactive Web client interfaces; integrates numerous third-party and in-house developed software components into end-to-end Web systems; provides reusable component modules for general download by the community; implements database management systems for scientific user communities; develops portable test suites and software documentation (such as user, developer, and administrator guides); and evaluates emerging technologies such as new Web 2.0 tools and Cloud Computing systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related technology area and four years experience in the development of complex software systems using distributed and web technologies using Java and related technologies required. Experience developing Web services and/or web-based user interfaces required. Applicant must have experience in both programming (Java, JavaScript) and the use of markups and style sheets (XML, XHTML, CSS, etc). Must demonstrate expert knowledge and usage of Java web development frameworks (such as JSP, JSF, Servlets), XML, CSS, and experience with JavaScript and Web 2.0 style technologies and techniques (Adobe Flash/Flex, JSON, Mash-ups, RSS feeds, Social Networks, Google Gadgets, etc). Experience developing in Linux/UNIX/Mac OSX environments and experience with Relational Database Management Systems required. Excellent understanding of wide area computer networking required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Good interpersona
l skills and ability to work as part of a team required. Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment required.

Note: Position is initially funded for two years.
